OXAC DOMINATES DYSON RELAY

With over 80 runners on the day plus several invaluable time keepers and helpers, OXAC was clearly the strongest club at this years Dyson relay around the Tan Track, held on Saturday May 2nd. The OXAC number one men's team were narrowly defeated by a resurgent Old Scotch who fielded a talented combination of youth and experience. The OXAC team were 2nd, in front of last years premiers Old Heileybury. In a great display of depth, OXAC men's team number two finished in 4th place, and a total of 8 complete OXAC mens' teams completed the course.

In the women's competition, OXAC were even more dominant with 29 runners, a record for any APSOC event. OXAC women's teams finished 1st, 3rd and 4th, with Old Wesley's women's team taking 2nd place. This was the 8th APSOC championship event victory in a row for the OXAC girls!

OXAC SUMMER TRACK SUCCESS

Old Xaverian athletes experienced success on the track this summer.

Senior mens athlete Dave McNeil returned from the US where he is studying on scholarship in Arizona to claim his first national title in winning the men's track 10,000 meters title in the 2008 Zatopek Classic. Dave ran away from a strong field with a 55 sec last lap to win in 28:03, setting a new club record.

In the State titles, female runner Isabella de Castella claimed her first state track title winning the open women's 5000m in a time of 17:03.

Old Xaverians enjoyed a summer resurgence this year with more than double the number of athletes out on the track in the Athletics Victoria Shield competition!
